  • well Shelia,
I know what you mean, and I've got good news for you. I make patterns just for specific body types. And you can call it any size you like. The bust is just for you and any thing I make from that template will fit you like a perfect pair of jeans.
I'm in Atlanta, and so many of these fashion designer, manufacturers that are coming from over seas, don't have a clue of what American women really are like. I do !!!

I am a consumer in Texas. I have a good eye for clothing. You can ask me what I think the trends are in Texas for the Dallas area.

For all you people who make clothing out there, most of the clothing in the us is not big enough in the bust, and most of the XL or 1X sizes that are are too big everywhere else. I have to wear shirts unbuttoned with a cami if they are not streachy. I am not huge either, just a 38C that should be able to fit nicely into a 14. I have to wear 16s though because no one makes busty clothes. I would say that victoria secret and Juicy are too small for many US women to wear. I also noticed that no one sells miniskirts in larger sizes. I think that the designers do this on purpose so that people dont look "bad" in their clothes. It would be wonderful if someone would start a line for "curvy" women and I dont mean obese. I just mean nice clothes int he regular sizes with more arm and bust room. Things that are not real tin y in the wasit if it has the right hig room, or maybe just sitws a little lower on the hips. Things that are not soo clingy in the waist that they ride up your butt or popp you out of your tops when you stand up or bend over. Just my two cents;). There is a market. Statistically in Dallas and Houston most of the stores run out of the larger sizes immediately. When you go to Ross or any of the discount stores you see all the smaller sizes and stuff made for olive oil left over here. The same thing goes for shoes now too. I have three daughters who wear a ten or 11 in shoe. No one makes 11 in anything fashionable. My girls look for dress shoes and fashion boots and if the toes are too pointy they cant wear them.

Some future trends you might all want to think about. There will be clothes in the future that people will be able to change the color and pattern on electronically. they might have to be dry cleaned in a special way or made like nano mail of fishline so they can be air cleaned. It also might be great to have a universal size and peeices that alll zip together into a jumpsuit. that way you could zip on the right length sleves and pants or shorts or a shirt on your standard torso. It would be somthing like IKEA wear, that you all have standard sizes that are not different form person to person and agreed on a universal zipper type. We could all dress up like Mrs potato-head and change parts of the clothes to have our own style. Sort of like the Ikea office furniture you buy sections to. For starters just putting a drawstring up the side of pant legs you could pull up or down and tie like a curtian with a shoelace. Also up the sides of tops and dresses to raise or lower the hemline, or maybe leave one side up and one down would be a first step. The Steampunk crowd is inot making their clothing unique and i think that movement is a model for the versitility that is needed for some kind of "adjustable wear". It would be better to give as gifts too, as you knew that it would be more likely to fit or become a part of somone's style even if the peice by itself was rather plain. I truly belive consumers will pay more for an item that they can wear with a lot of things or adjust a little as their weight may fluxuate with their monthly cycle and hormonal water changes, this means 1 to 2 inches. I am not talking about maternity or plus sizes. I am talking about creating a new market for adjustable standard peices that you can mix and match, because everyone is not shaped like the models on the runway. If you dont think I am on target just look at how they now sell bikini tops and bottoms separately on Kohls for example. I wore an old bikini and because it matched my daughters said it looked "dated".

Best of luck to you all. I am just a freind of Sam's who started the list.
