News broke today of the possibility that the Australian Fashion Chamber, a non-for-profit organisation representing the country’s fashion industry, will be merging with the Council for Textiles and Fashion, a similar organisation with a 65-year history of supporting the growth of textiles and fashion within Australia. Announcing their intentions in front of industry leaders during a Fashion Forum held today alongside Hon Minister Julie Bishop, the organisations have confirmed they will continue to work towards promoting and encouraging the growth of the ever-evolving industry within Australia. “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Australian fashion with the prospect to really expand and build on both organisations’ achievements to a great future,” says editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia and Australian Fashion Chamber chair, Edwina McCann. Before an outcome can be reached, members of each of the organisation’s AMGs will be given the opportunity to vote later this year on the proposal for a stronger, allied force – so watch this space. Melbourne residents prepare to rejoice, as Australian designer Yeojin Bae has announced she will be offering express delivery from Monday to Friday on all race-ready wear in the city’s CBD this spring racing season. With an approximate four hour, same-day delivery turn around, a last minute trip to the tracks or an outfit change for a night on the town has never looked so appealing. “We thought the service would perfect if you’re in need of a last minute outfit or have just flown into Melbourne and your attire is not up to scratch…you might need something for the races, but it could also be for dinner that night or a weekday brunch,” says Bae. Head online to make a purchase and be sure to check out the designer’s latest collection, Provence, donned by the likes of Elyse Taylor and Jennifer Hawkins. [Vogue inbox]
